At Rainworth State School we support healthy eating.

Our Tuckshop is run by our convenor, Claire Kendall, and staffed by parent volunteers.

Parent volunteers also provide healthy, freshly-baked goods that are sold through the tuckshop. This is featured on our menu as homebaking. Gluten-free homebaking is available on request.

Not sure of what to bake? Check out our recipe ideas booklet (linked at the right of this page)  to ensure we meet our healthy eating guidelines.

Open throughout the year for lunch (starting at 10.50am) and afternoon tea (starting at 1.30pm), children can order online for Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.  In addition to this, special Meal Deal days are run in week 10, term 1, 2 and 3 and are popular with the children.

Our Prep students are offered the opportunity to order Tuckshop items from Term 2 onwards. The orders are delivered to their classroom just prior to break time.

Our Tuckshop provides a variety of reasonably priced, nutritious food and drinks. The menu follows the guidelines from the Smart choices - healthy food and drink strategy for Qld schools (PDF, 1.1MB).

Getting involved with Tuckshop

There are two main ways that parents can help with Tuckshop.

Working in the Tuckshop
This involves a morning session for only a few hours, from after drop-off (approximately 8.45am) through until 12 noon and involves checking off the children's orders, preparing food, serving children during first break and associated clean-up. All food preparation is under the guidance of Claire and full training is given. Second Break is handled by Claire and Year 6 student volunteers.

Becoming a homebaker
This simply entails supplying 1 dozen healthy, freshly-baked items that will be used for home baking in children's orders and for across-the-counter sales. Check out the Recipe Ideas Booklet (link on the right of this page) to see what's popular and what complies with our healthy eating guidelines.

There is a roster for both working in Tuckshop, for home baking and sushi collection from Ashgrove. Claire would love to hear from you to add you into the roster. Either drop in to see her on a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday or visit the Rainworth Tuckshop Online Roster to add your name in at your leisure. This online roster is very user-friendly and easy to follow.

Ordering from Tuckshop
All orders for tuckshop can only be placed online. Counter service will still be available for snacks and drinks during first and second break.

Cut offs for all orders apply: Must Order by 8.00am on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday for all items excluding sushi.  Sushi must be ordered by 6pm the night before.

NB. A small charge is made per order per family and for the brown paper bag/adhesive label.
