Rainworth State School offer Baha'i education classes for Religious Instruction (RI).

Those children that are not involved in RI remain with their classroom teacher working through non-religious classwork.

Religious Instruction commences in February of Term 1 and runs throughout the year. Depending on availability of RI teachers, some classes may not have a RI teacher for all or part of the year. Fees may apply for participation in Baha'i Education.

Please print a copy of the RI Consent Form, included in the Related Links to the right, complete it and return it to the school office.

About the faiths

Baha'i Education Classes

Baha'i education classes are based on the teachings of Baha'u'llah, the found of the Baha'i Faith. The emphasis of these classes is on learning to think, reflect and to apply spiritual principals to the life of the individual and society. They are based on a strong belief in the nobility of all human beings and that every child is a 'mine rich in gems of inestimable value'. These gems are spiritual qualities or virtues such as unity, kindness, love, justice, truthfulness and service. These qualities are explored in the class through the consideration and memorisation of a quote from Baha'i Writings concerning the particular quality or virtue, and engaging in a range of activities (prayer, song, story, drama, co-operative games and art) to assist each child understand and apply the spiritual quality to his/her lives.

While inspired by the principles and ideals of the Baha'i Faith, Baha'i education classes are not classes of religious indoctrination. The moral principles they seek to impart are applicable to people of all faiths, and the personal beliefs of the children and their families will be respected at all times. Parents are welcome to assist or be present during the classes by contacting the teacher.

Non-Religious

Students who chose not to attend Religious instruction will be supervised by the class teacher. Students will read, research and complete class work. No new work is taught or new activities undertaken.

Families are asked to complete a RI Permission Form for each child. The permission form remains valid for the duration of a student's attendance at Rainworth State School, unless advice of any change is received in writing from the parent.
