Rainworth State School facilitates camps for students in Years 4-6 each year.

Our camps are organised and conducted at approved camp facilities. Transport to each camp is on buses equipped with seat belts. Depending on the location, the program involves students rotating through a series of activities such as bushwalking, environmental activities, problem solving, high rope walk, canoeing, rafting, surfing, tree climb and similar initiatives based on age levels. The camps meet strict guidelines under Workplace Health and Safety regulations which include appropriately qualified and trained instructors.

Class teachers also accompany the students for the duration of the camp.

This year, our camps will be held as per the following:

Year Level 2018 Camp Dates Location
Year 4 Wed June 19 - Fri June 21, 2019 Mapleton
Year 5 Wed Sept 4 - Fri Sept 6, 2019 Tallebudgera
Year 6 Wed Oct 23 - Fri Oct 25, 2019 Currimundi

All camp information will be sent home approximately 1 month prior to your child's camp and will include:

  • General information regarding dates forms are due back
  • Medical form
  • Asthma management plan (if required)
  • Invoice
  • What to bring list
  • Camp program

Each year, we endeavour to keep the cost of the camp at a manageable level, but there are variables that are beyond our control such as:

  • the cost of petrol, therefore the cost of coach travel
  • the cost of insurances for the camp sites
  • the cost of fresh, wholesome food served at camp
  • the cost of qualified, highly-trained instructors who take care of the children at camp

Invoices need to be paid in full prior to the child/ren going on camp. Children whose families have not paid the camp fee will not be allowed to go. If you're unable to pay your child's camp fee in full prior to the camp departure day, you are able to organise a payment plan. For this, you simply need to contact either our Principal, Ms Richenda Wagener, or our Business Services Manager, Ms Katrina Greenwood shortly after receiving the invoice to set up the payment plan. A minimum of the first agreed instalment must be received before the departure date.

Whilst camp is not compulsory, we do encourage all parents to allow their children to attend. Children not attending camp are expected to come to school, as per normal, and they will be included in with other classes for the 3 days, working on worksheets and homework set by their year level teacher.

The children learn a great deal whilst being away at camp, not only about themselves, but about others and their environment. It is a very rewarding experience and much-talked about upon their return. The fond memories will stay with them for a lifetime.
