Stunning early morning weather means one thing at this time of year... it's a fantastic time to be heading to the oval for our annual KM Club. As usual, we're honoured to see parents and younger siblings supporting our students in their efforts to make it around the country. Will this year be the year we finally make? Let's hope so!
KM Club is one of the ways we encourage the children to physically prepare for our annual Cross Country events.
It was very exciting to have past-Rainworth student and Olympic medalist, Dane Bird-Smith join us last Friday morning at KM Club. He was very generous with his time as he is currently in training for the World Championships. We wish him all the very best of success at this latest event. We look forward to seeing Dane throughout the year as he is enjoying spending time with our students – especially at KM Club! How fast were those laps!!!
KM Club would not operate if it wasn't for the effort of our staff who have committed to attend each day in their own time. Our regulars, Miss Chloe Stanley (6S) on Mondays, Miss Kayla Geddes (2/1G) on Wednesdays and Mrs Marta Arribas (1VA) on Fridays, are supported by Mr Stephen Stocker and Danella Perrins. We also have a host of other teachers who head down to the oval when they can.
Our Sports Captains and Sports Ambassadors will also be actively involved during the 2017 season, eventually leading the warm-up and rallying the troops.
And not to go unnoticed is the wonderful help of parents on the day who jump in and lend a hand when we're hit with more than 230 students wanting to add their tally to the sheets!
Newstead took out the inaugural Dane Bird-Smith Shield in 2016. Which house will be the winners in 2017?
KM Club will run until the end of Term 2.
