Arts Program - Visual Arts / Dance / Drama
The Rainworth State School arts curriculum allows students to explore a wide variety of art forms and techniques. Instruction is offered in drama, dance and the visual arts, including drawing, electronic imaging, painting, printmaking, textiles, construction, modelling and carving. Prep to Year 6 students have the opportunity to access specialist drama and dance teachers.

Rainworth State School is proud to have been awarded the Queensland Arts Council's Arts and Culture Practice Award in 2003. Rainworth State School was recognised for its outstanding visual arts program, which culminates in an Art Show that is held every two years (2014 was an Art Show year); its participation in the Bardon Young Writers' Workshop; and its commitment to an annual artist/author-in-residence program.

English
The teaching of English language skills is integrated into all of the school's programs. All year levels participate in Integrated Units of Work which are developed by teachers and students. These tasks combine as many curriculum areas as possible in challenging and stimulating contexts.

Rainworth State School takes part in the University of New South Wales Australian Schools English Competition. Rainworth students also take part in the Bardon Young Writers' Workshop.

Health and Physical Education
Rainworth State School offers a wide range of health and fitness activities, both as part of the curriculum and as extra-curricular activities.  The school has excellent sports facilities including a netball/basketball court, tennis courts, an oval and extensive playgrounds.

All students in Years 4-6 are offered inter-school sports. The sports played vary from term to term and from year to year and include cricket, netball, tennis, soccer and modified cricket. Students also participate in zone and state competitions.

There are three sports houses at the school:

  • Fernberg - Royal Blue
  • Gregory - Red
  • Newstead - Gold

Highlights of the sports calendar at Rainworth State School include the annual cross-country event, a winter inter-house athletics carnival and a summer swimming carnival.

Years 1-3 attend swimming lessons during Terms 1 and 4. Tuition is provided by UQ Sport, at an affordable cost. Classes are small and children receive individual attention. In Term 4, an inter-house Junior Swimming Carnival is held for Years 1-3 and a Senior Swimming Carnival is held for Years 4-6.
