Year 7s Run the Food Tent at the Oxfam Finish Line

Getting up in the dark and cold at 4.30am in readiness for the day's food prep didn't deter our Year 7 students or their parents on Saturday June 15. This year, Rainworth State School was invited to run the only food tent at this year's Brisbane Oxfam Trailwalk finish line.

Serving food up until 8pm that night, the Year 7s actively got involved in food prep, selling and cheering on the competitors. In the race this year were not only two Rainworth mums, but also two Year 7 dads, who received a very warm and deserving welcome when they crossed the finish line in just over 27 hours.

Our Principal, Adam Mathewson, and one of our Year 7 teachers, Holly Baylis, (pictured above with a group of the senior students) dropped by to lend a helping hand to the stall.

All profits from this event went towards the Year 7 Graduation. The students voiced that they were proud to have been able to support such a worthwhile community event.
