Voluntary Contributions
Curriculum Enhancement Rainworth students are offered enhanced services compared to other schools, these include: dance, drama, swimming, our visual arts program and Italian from Prep. To assist in providing these enhancements we request a contribution from families. These contributions appear on a statement that is sent to all families each term.
Building Fund The P&C also request a voluntary family building contribution of $70 for one child and $110 for two or more children attending the school.
These contributions, in partnership with government grants, have allowed the school to build facilities such as: the multi-purpose room, the art precinct, La Piazza and upgrading sporting facilies.
The committment to make these contributions will enable future capital developments like the Welbeing Classroom to be realised.
Prep Curriculum Support Rainworth State School P&C has a committed philosophy towards the Prep Year. In 2006, before the introduction of the prep year, the P&C decided on how the new prep year should be supported in the school. We saw this as a necessity to ensure an excellent prep program is provided at Rainworth, in line with what research has shown to be best practice for Education in the Early Years.
The P&C has invested upwards of $70,000 of raised funds since 2006 to improve our Prep Precinct. There is an Early Years P&C sub-committee to further develop and provide on going support for Prep to Year 3.
Most importantly, the P&C ask Prep parents to pay a voluntary Curriculum Support Contribution. This enables the P&C to provide additional aide hours (as an extra to Education Queensland's basic allocation of teacher aide hours), with the aim of providing full time teacher aides in all prep rooms.
Since introduction, Prep at Rainworth has had full time teacher aides due to the parents paying this voluntary support contribution. The presence of the full time Teacher Aide in each Prep room enabled the children to be properly supported in all aspects of their development in a play based environment, to ensure the best possible outcomes for the children throughout their Prep year.
Research indicates: the lower the child to adult ratio, with the 4-6 year old age group, the better the educational, emotional and social outcomes for the children.
Parent Class Reps A class parent representative is responsible for the following:
- 1. To co-ordinate and disseminate a Class Contact List. It is essential that all School Confidentiality Policies are complied with when lists are organised. Every family has the right not to have their details included. If possible the Class Contact List should be completed within the first month of Term 1 of each school year. It is the responsibility of Parent Representatives from each class to collaborate and ensure a complete list of children and families from that grade level is provided to all families who want to be included. The most effective method of dissemination is via email. For the families who do not have email a paper copy can be provided. Photocopying is possible via the Rainworth P & C.
If your child is in a multi-age class, a class representative will need to volunteer for each grade level, for example in a 6/7 class, 1 Parent Rep for Grade 6 and 1 Parent Rep for Grade 7.
A template has been given to each Class Teacher and an electronic one can be sent via email, please contact Jess White by email here.
Please forward all complete electronic Class Lists to me on the above address and please give a copy to the Class Teacher. I will then forward each Parent Rep the Contact Class Lists for each Grade to distribute. This is important for the children who are in multi-age classes.
- To liaise with Classroom Teacher during the year as required. The main responsibility of the Parent Representative is the making of the wreath for the ANZAC ceremony.
Some teachers (especially new ones) may like to utilise the Parent Representative as a contact between them (the teacher) and the class for some things, like excursions etc.
- To co-ordinate social activities during the year. It is encouraged that all classes for each grade level be invited. Some social ideas include:
- play in the park (once a term); Haining St Park is close and suitable for most age groups.
- coffee morning (twice a year); choose a local café to meet.
- parents' dinner/movie night (twice a year).
Advertise social events in the School Newsletter, make sure you give families at least two weeks notice. Information for the Newsletter needs to be in by the Tuesday prior to Thursday distribution.
- To disseminate information from Rainworth P & C Committee, this is best achieved via email. This may include invitations to certain events organised by the P & C. It may be the responsibility of the Parent Representative to assist in organizing tables/numbers for school functions such as Strictly Swinging and the Trivia Night. Parent Representatives are also encouraged to participate in the Welcome Function to new families in Term 1.
- To assist in dissemination of information about the Rainbow Carnival – Grade levels are nominated specific roles within the Rainbow Carnival, and the Class Representative is encouraged to support. The support may vary from simply providing class lists to being a stall convenor.

Annual Photography Class photographs are taken every year in the first term. Please visit the Advanced Life website here to view the various print options. Some options include class and individual pictures along with a well-presented commemorative 8-page student photo booklet.
A photo order envelope is sent home from the class teacher. The preferred method of ordering is via online payment by credit card. To validate the online payment you will be issued with an 8 digit receipt number. As proof of payment this must be written on the photo order envelope, in the space provided, and returned to school for your order to be completed. Instructions are on the form in the envelope.
Payments can also be made with cash (correct money only - NO CHANGE GIVEN) or cheque (allowing 60 days finalisation) with name and address on the back of the cheque. Make cheques payable to AdvancedLife.
School Banking is a great way for children to learn about saving, plus the school earns a commission. To open an account or for account processing please bring the banking passbook to the Multi-Purpose Room from 8.30am on Wednesday mornings.
